Breitling has announced details of its latest aviation-themed limited edition, a series of watches produced to honour its role as the official watch supplier to the Royal Air Force Aerobatic team, the Red Arrows.

The watch is a 45mm stainless steel Avenger, powered by the chronometer-regulated Calibre B32 from Breitling, a modified ETA 2893-2 with 42 hours of power reserve. It comes on a stainless steel bracelet.

Symbolising the relationship with the Red Arrows, the watch has a blue dial with red detailing on the minute track, GMT hand and around the date window, and a motif at nine o'clock displaying the Red Arrows' "Diamond Nine" formation. The watch is priced at £3,950 and is available from Breitling.com.

Breitling has long been famous for having its own aerobatic display team, the Breitling Jet Team (operated by Apache Aviation and sponsored by Breitling). Since 2002, it has taken the team, comprising seven L39 Albatros jets, based out of Dijon in France and flown predominantly by French ex-military pilots, all over the world.

At the end of 2019, however, Breitling's contract as sole sponsor came to an end and - having invested heavily in multiple squads of celebrity ambassadors - it decided not to renew it. In a statement on its website Breitling says that it is open to remaining involved as a partner sponsor if other brands can be found to contribute to the running costs.
