About this issue

At QP, we love connecting watches to WIDER LIFESTYLE and culture, showcasing names that inspire ACROSS GENERATIONS. Take GENE GALLAGHER on our cover: the first musician ever to front our cover in our 23 year history. The frontman of the grunge-punk band Villanelle, son of Liam Gallagher, and now a friend of Bvlgari, he’s just 24 and already collaborating with a prestigious high-watchmaking brand all while his musical talents gain traction. This issue also features MANUEL EMCH, the “excessive perfectionist” as he calls himself, who became the youngest CEO in Swatch Group history at 29, and is now at the helm of Louis Erard, one of the BUZZIEST INDEPENDENTS. There’s also Marc Newson, who has previously worked with Jaeger-LeCoultre and Apple on watch design and has now turned his hand to Ressence, the METICULOUS MODERNIST WATCH BRAND. In jewellery, we speak to ALICE CICOLINI, who has become an expert voice in enamel jewellery after nearly 17 years of work. Originally founded in 1891 and a victim of the quartz crisis in the 1970s, we also look at the rise of the MODERN-DAY ANGELUS, which has achieved remarkable success in just over a decade. (WE KNOW FROM THE HEART, AT QP, HOW CHALLENGING IT IS TO PLAN A SUCCESSFUL COMEBACK!) We also love QP to connect to its readers, allowing for deeper dives in quiet moments. With that in mind, for the first time, we’ve gathered most of the articles together at the end of these pages, creating a NON-STOP READING EXPERIENCE. From head to toe, a solid 45 minute reading session awaits you. And one last note: if you’re in London this season, don’t miss the British School of Watchmaking’s exhibition at the Clockmakers’ Museum inside the Science Museum, it’s an unmissable, and inspiring, new year treat.
